David Turner PhD

Mathematical Sciences & Physics

Dr. Turner received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rio Grande. He additionally holds degrees from Indiana University (applied mathematics) and Purdue University (theoretical mathematics) and a doctoral degree from Auburn University (mathematics).

Dr. Turner has taught courses in many areas of mathematics, including precalculus algebra, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, number theory, real and complex analysis, abstract algebra, and geometry.

Abstract algebra is Dr. Turner’s current research area with a specialty in Schur algebras. During the fall of 2011 and the summer of 2012, he discovered formula generators for two classes of mathematical induction formulas: polynomial summation and alternating polynomial summation. He is published in the Journal of Linear and Multilinear Algebra and spoken at two mathematics conferences regarding these topics. Turner is also currently writing a textbook in abstract algebra.
